Das Music System III bietet alle Vorzüge des Vorgängers und überdies einen Tuner, der neben analogen Radiosendern das digital via DAB, DAB+ und T-DMB ausgestrahlte Programm empfängt. Neu ist auch die Möglichkeit, zwei unterschiedliche Weckzeiten zu programmieren Dual Alarm, wobei man wahlweise mit einem Summton, mit einem Radiosender oder einer CD geweckt wird. An der Gehäuseoberseite hat Bose zudem ein Touchpad verbaut, mit dem die Anlage komfortabel ein- und wieder ausgeschaltet, die Schlummerfunktion aktiviert und der Alarm für den nächsten Tag zurückgesetzt werden kann. Neben analogen und digitalen Radiosendern spielt das System Audio-CDs und gebrannte Scheiben CD-R, CD-RW mit MP3-Dateien. Das optische Laufwerk – ein Slot-in-Mechanismus – sitzt an der Vorderseite. Wer es gern bequem hat, besorgt sich den optionalen 3-fach-CD-Wechsler, fortan kann das System bis zu vier CDs aufnehmen. Ebenfalls optional erhältlich Ein „Wave Connect Kit“ getauftes Dock für iPod und iPhone sowie ein „Bluetooth Music Adapter“, falls man Audio-Dateien von Mobiltelefonen, MP3-Playern, Desktop-Rechnern, Note- oder Netbooks drahtlos zuspielen will. Das Dock wird über den rückseitigen 3,5 Millimeter-Eingang angeschlossen, der sich natürlich auch für klassische Zuspieler eignet. Für die beiden anderen Erweiterungen steht eine proprietäre Buchse bereit, die mit „Bose Link“ beschriftet ist. Antennenstecker für UKW/MW beziehungsweise für die mitgelieferte DAB-Dipol-Antenne und ein Kopfhörerausgang runden die Anschlussleiste ab. Zum Lieferumfang des 36,9 Zentimeter breiten, 10,6 Zentimeter hohen, 21,9 Zentimeter tiefen und knapp vier Kilogramm schweren Systems gehört eine Fernbedienung im Scheckkartenformat. In Sachen Klang lässt der Hersteller trotz kompakter Abmessungen erneut auf „satte Bässe und kristallklare Höhen hoffen“, für die eine patentierte Waveguide Speaker- und diverse Bose-Technologien verantwortlichen zeichnen. Ohne Erweiterungen schlägt das Wave Music System III mit 700 EUR zu Buche. Inklusive Wechsler sind es 950 EUR, mit Dock oder Bluetooth-Adapter jeweils 800 EUR.
